YOUNG JAZZ LIONS FEATURE
From our own Xavier Bonner who we encountered during his years at Ellington Fine Arts Academy Middle School during our workshop and residency series. Now continuing his education at Wayne State University he has released his first project. Check it out!
“A Place Far Away” is a concept album that explores the themes of change, growth, and peace. During the creation of these compositions it was my intent to create melodies that grasp the listener in a sincere way. It is my hope that this music sparks self reflection and positivity. I also want to give a special thanks to all the musicians, artists, and sound engineers involved. “To one day may you reach your Place Far Away.”
Benny Rubin Jr. is a product of the Detroit Jazz scene. During Wendell Harrison's teaching days at Detroit High School For The Performing Arts has formed in intergenerational relationship. Benny now attends the The New School for the Performing Arts in NYC.
Here's Benny's first release WHAT'S NEXT. Take a listen!!
